Seriously

Last Sunday night a curse was broken.

Since I was 14 and quite possibly the first "Gwenabee" I have NEVER seen No Doubt live. First time I missed out it was anti-social mean girl behavior. Second, some sort of we can't take you because you dumped so and so. And the list goes on...

The addiction to No Doubt began with a the cassette Tragic Kingdom. After that I went to an Amoeba or Rasputin Records and bought Beacon Street Collection. Then the very first self titled album. I listened to every word as if it were scripture and bought every album the band recommended. That was my baggy grandpa pants, bindi, lunch box phase. Oi vey. I listened to a lot of two-tone ska and Rancid.

Flash forward to me, 27 years old and dreading the reunion tour knowing I wouldn't make it to the show. Due to some incredible connections from my dear friends Pepper and Todd there was hope in the air. I still didn't wanna get too excited and resolved internally that sometimes the guest list gets full. As time passed I just put it in the back of my head and had a rather busy and exciting summer.

Turns out, we were going to go see them Sunday evening in Irvine at the Meadows. Pepper and Todd had an extra ticket (Sorry Drake) and we had Katy shake tail and speed over to my house so we could hit the road. Only small obstacle was a bit of traffic headed south, but that is to be expected. We got to the venue and parked, Todd scooped up the tickets from will call and we walked on in.

OMG!

The seats were amazing! Stage left in the orchestra section. View was perfect and where we were we had PERFECT sound. Katy and I got some beers once we were back all I could do was wait.

Torture.

The lights dimmed, the band made an INCREDIBLE entrance, and I was 14 years old pogo-ing in my bedroom with a crystal bindi superglued to my forehead.

Thanks a billion times over to Todd and Pepper - true giving amazing friends.
